July Giveaway - Madhuri Fat Quarter Bundle

 We Have A Winner!
The winner is Amanda who said "I want to make a skirt of the pink main floral! I super love this collection, I'd prob make a quilt from fat quarters. I love the colors and the tonal elephants."  Congratulations Amanda!
Madhuri by The Quilted Fish for Riley Blake
Happy July!  It's been waaaaayyyyy too long since we've had a Giveaway, don't you think?!  And we have so much to celebrate right now - new puppies, new houses, surviving the move to California, being halfway through the year and Sew Fab's 4th birthday!  Well.....the birthday was actually on June 1st but since I was a wee bit busy preparing to move across the country on short notice at that time I actually forgot about Sew Fab's B-Day!  Oops!  So, this year we'll just pretend that the birthday is on July 1st!  Better late than never, right?!
Madhuri by The Quilted Fish for Riley Blake
To celebrate, we're going to give away a 12 piece Madhuri Fat Quarter Bundle by The Quilted Fish for Riley Blake.  I just love all of the bright, juicy, summery colors in this collection!

And the selvage.....oh my.....the selvage on these prints is just amazing!  There is a rainbow of elephants on the selvage.  Selvage collectors rejoice!  It's total cuteness overload!
Madhuri Quilting Fabric by The Quilted Fish for Riley Blake Designs
As always, just leave a comment to be entered to win.  I'd love to hear what you want to make with the Madhuri collection.  A quilt?  Do you have a specific pattern in mind?  Or maybe a sundress?  Or maybe a tote bag?  Or do you just need to get your hands on some and see it in real life to find your inspiration?

I'm thinking this fabric would look great in the Camping In Style quilt pattern that I just ordered for the shop (I'll let you know when it arrives).  I think the larger floral and elephant prints would look great in the center parts of the blocks and the smaller prints and some solids would look great as the thinner "frame" portion of the blocks.  What do you think?
We'll pick a winner on Monday, July 8 so please leave your comment on or before Sunday, July 7.  Good luck!

Happy Sewing,
Jenny

P.S.  As you probably already know, the selvage "dots" only shows the colors in THAT print.  So the prints with fewer colors won't have as many elephants on the selvage.

September 2012 Giveaway - Love It or Leave It?

 WE HAVE A WINNER!
The winner is SpendLove who said "Avignon by Emily Taylor for Riley Blake Designs -it was a hard decision love so many, but Avignon wins my vote! Thanks :)"  Please send me an e-mail so I can give you your Gift Certificate!
And the fabric collections that got the most votes are Hill Farm, Notting Hill, Honey Honey, Avignon, Simple Life and Hello Sunshine!

Happy September!  It's giveaway time again!!!  Well.....actually it was Giveaway time over a week ago but I went out of town and totally forgot to tell anyone in blog-land or Facebook-land or Twitter-land that I was going out of town.  And I totally forgot to do the intelligent, well prepared thing and write blog posts ahead of time.  I'm such a responsible business person, aren't I?  And where did I go, you ask?  I went up to Massachusetts for Mr. Sew Fab's promotion to Colonel at Barnes Air Force Base!!!  Seriously!  We may all have to start calling him Colonel Sew Fab from now on!

Anyway, back to my original point of it being Giveaway time (more on the Colonel thing later)!  This month I'm doing another one of those Love It or Leave It posts.  As you can imagine it can be kind of challenging to pick out new fabric collections.  And I want to make sure that I'm going to get fabric collections that YOU like.  So here are some snippet samples of some collections I'm considering getting for the shop.  Tell me what you think!  What jumps out at you and screams "you can't live without me?!"  Which ones do you want to buy?  Which ones would you walk right by and say to yourself "Yuck!  What was she thinking?"  You don't have to comment on every collection.  If you have lukewarm feelings about something you don't have to tell me unless you want to.  Obviously, I'm mostly interested in the ones that you really, really want to buy and can't live without!  And if there's a collection you're interested in that I haven't listed here please tell me that too.  Please be honest!  You're not going to hurt my feelings if you don't like something.  You'll just be helping me stock the shop with tons of stuff that everyone will LOVE!

Just leave a comment and you'll be entered to win.  I'll pick the winner of a $50 Gift Certificate on Tuesday, September 18.

Here are the fabric collections that are being "nominated."  The name of the collection is listed above the image.  These collections are all being released sometime in the next few months.  (Please Note:  The fabric collections in the sidebar on the right are fabrics that are already in the shop).

This is Avignon by Emily Taylor for Riley Blake Designs.

Work In Progress Wednesday - My Reign Is Over!

I.  Finished.  Something!!!  Yes.....me......the Queen Of Unfinished Projects......actually finished something.  I will have to hand over my tiara to a new Queen of Unfinished Projects as my reign is now over.

Once I realized that the quilt was really and truly done I just kind of stared at it in befuddled amazement......I kept looking at it thinking "surely I missed something.......there has to be a block that isn't quilted yet.....is the binding really attached everywhere......"  but all I found were a few spots of blood (quilting is dangerous business folks) and a completely finished quilt. Wow.  Just wow......

And of course I wanted to show you a bunch of fabulous pictures of the whole quilt today but Mr. Sew Fab is out of town and it's a two person job to get those photos.  Soooooo.....I just draped the quilt over our big chair hoping that I'd be able to get a semi decent photo to show you today.......and I managed to take ONE photo before Emma Jane appeared......

Doesn't she seem stunned that I was actually trying to take a picture that doesn't have her in it?  Why would I do such a thing???
Granny Square Quilt with Emma the dog
Emma quickly demonstrated that she was more than happy to model in this photo shoot.  I call this her "don't hate me because I'm beautiful" look.
Emma Jane the dog with quilt
But she quickly grew bored of her modeling duties and settled in for a nap.  Models are so fickle....
Emma the Sew Fabulous Mascot
Once Mr. Sew Fab gets home I'll have much better photos to show you.  I'm actually going to do a whole "start to finish" blog post showing how my little baby that started as a pile of wee little scraps is all grown up now.

Annnndddddd.......I'm almost done with Hooterville.  The beaks and feet are done.  The applique is done.  I just need to decide on the layout and piece the top.  And pick a border fabric.....there will probably be a "Help Me Pick A Border" blog post coming soon!  I'm actually wondering if I'm starting to become one of those people that actually gets things done in a timely fashion!  Dare to dream.....

Sooooo.....for the first time in my "Work In Progress Wednesday" history I'm proud to report that I can ADD ONE to the "Finished" column.  Go me!

Finished Projects:  ONE!  Seriously!!!  The Scrappy Granny Square Quilt is D.O.N.E!!!
Active WIPs:  5  - That number was 6 last week!
-Living Room Quilt:  Almost half way done with those ties
-Hooterville:  Applique is done.  Beaks and feet are done.  It's time to piece the top together!
-Dollhouse:  No Progress
-Teeny, Tiny Hexie Project:  Almost Done!

-Zelda's Fancy Witch Hat
:  No progress.  I just found it.....we'll need time to get reacquainted.
Next In Line:  Vintage Valentine!  I'm chomping at the bit to get started on this one!
Back Burner WIPs:  4
Ready To Go:  22 - That number was 12 last week!
Must Make:  10 - That number was 6 last week!
New Projects:  ZERO!  Aren't you proud of me?!
Forgotten/Abandoned Projects:  Didn't find any last week - Yay!

Happy Sewing,
Jenny (The Former Queen)

P.S.  I'm loving all your comments on my Ginger Bliss/Amy Butler Giveaway post about how you organize your stash.  Want to know why I love them???  Because most of you have a completely disorganized stash like me!

August Giveaway - Vintage Amy Butler!!!

 We Have A Winner!
The winner is B Greene who really cracked me up with her comment.  Her organizational system sounds as fancy as mine is.  Here's what she said about her stash.....
"Mine is a wreck! Well, part of it anyway. I have a bin of 5-inch charm squares; a couple of bins of 2.5-inch strips. I also have a bin just for 2.5-inch squares that are soon to become a scrap vomit quilt. But then, I have bins of "good" scraps and "really good" scraps and lesser-quality scraps. I have a bag of strings. There are snippets somehwere and FQs everywhere. Just a wonderful, beautiful mess.

BUT - all my FQ bundles abd precuts are nicely stored and waiting patiently for their time to shine! Thanks for the chance to add this wonderful bundle to the mix!"
Sew Fabulous Quilt Shop Fabric Giveaway
Happy August!  I can't believe it's already August, can you?!  I feel like once we reach August the year is pretty much over....August will fly by because it's the last unofficial month of summer and back to school time....September is just a filler month....and then October is the beginning of the whirlwind of holiday months that will catapult us into the new year.  So the year is pretty much over in my book.

Anyway, you may have already read in my last few posts that I've been going through my very disorganized fabric stash during the last couple weeks frantically looking for the right fabrics for my next project - Vintage Valentine.  I finally got so sick of the mess and chaos and fabric shoved in 10 different cardboard boxes in every room of the house that I decided to do something really wild.....I've started sorting my stash and organizing it by color all in ONE PLACE!  Isn't that a wild idea?  I've also realized that my fabric stash isn't quit as vast as I thought it was.  I found so many gorgeous fabrics in my stash that are totally my style and my favorite colors but I only have 1/2 yard of them.  What's up with that???!!!  Why did I do that to myself???!!!  So.....my new rule is that if I like a fabric (even if I have no idea what I'm going to do with it!) I'm going to take at least a yard of it.....or better yet two yards....or possibly five if I really, really like it!

Soooo.....as I was doing all of this sorting and organizing I found this bundle of "vintage" Amy Butler fabrics from the Ginger Bliss Collection.  This collection is very out of print, very hard to find and very sought after.  And I'm going to give this bundle of 10 fat quarters to one of you!

Just leave a comment to be entered to win....I'd love to hear how you organize your fabric stash.  I need some ideas on how to get mine all sorted out.  Or, I'd love to hear how your stash is as messy as mine used to be.  Or what is your dream plan to organize your fabric?  Please leave your comment by midnight on Monday, August 13.  I'll pick a winner on Tuesday, August 14, 2012.

Good Luck and Happy Sewing,
Jenny

P.S. Thanks so much to everyone who left a comment on my last post telling me it was o.k. to abandon a project!  I thought I was going to be scolded for not finishing what I started - LOL!

July Giveaway - Lush Running Stitch Bundle

 We Have A Winner!
The winner is Mom2RyandSis who said "Cute Fabric!  Thanks for the chance to win!!"  Thanks to everyone who entered!
Lush by Patty Young for Michael Miller Fabrics
Happy July!  I know I'm a little late with this but better late than never, right?  This month we're giving away a Lush Running Stitch 1/2 yard Bundle (3 yards total) by Patty Young for Michael Miller.  These fabrics sold out so fast the first time they were in the shop and after a very long wait we finally have lots and lots of each color back in the shop.  Apparently they are very popular with the modern quilters who are buying yards and yards of every color to have in their stash.  And they look a little bit like Rainbow Sherbet to me so it seems like the perfect thing to give away during the heat of July!

Just leave a comment to be entered to win.  I'd love to know if you like making modern quilts?  What's your quilting style?  Personally, I like cutesy or shabby chic/romantic or traditional style quilts.  I haven't really ventured into really, really modern quilting yet.

And if you're wondering if you missed the June Giveaway.....nope....you didn't miss it.  I just never got around to posting it!  Between 18 year old Cassi Cat getting sick and Mr. Sew Fab's Birthday and then I got sick.....well...it just kind of slipped my mind!  Oops!

Anyway, leave your comment by midnight on Monday, July 16.  I'll pick a winner on Tuesday, July 17.....assuming I don't get a rock in my shoe or a thorn in my paw or a knot in my hair or some other random, lame excuse for always running late on things!

Good Luck and Happy Sewing,
Jenny

April 2012 Giveaway - California Girl

We Have A Winner!
The winner is Brita who said "Oh, how I love the California Girl collection! Anything by Joanna Figueroa rocks my world. And roses, sweet red, wild, romantic, on white, gray, green, yellow. Modern in moderate doses. I'm really sick of red with aqua, tho. Orange has been fun this year." Congratulations Brita! And I apologize for the delay in picking a winner. We're in the middle of moving our shop to a bigger space - It's been an exciting, chaotic and wonderful move and I'm so glad we did it!!!
Happy April! I bet you thought I forgot all about my monthly Giveaways! The last few weeks have been a little hectic but I'll tell you all about that another day......let's just get right to the fun stuff! This month we're giving away a 20 piece California Girl Fat Quarter Bundle. I want to say that this collection just screams springtime at me.....but it's such a soft and sweet collection I think it would politely whisper at me instead. California Girl is too ladylike and delicate to scream!

Just leave a comment to be entered to win. I'd love for you to tell me what styles/colors/designers/manufacturers/types of fabrics you're looking for these days. Modern? Brights? Batiks? Romantic Florals? More Riley Blake? More Amy Butler? I could go on and on but I think you're getting the picture! Tell me everything and anything you like in the fabric world - I want to know what's on your fabric loving mind! Spring Quilt Market is coming up so TONS of new collections are about to be released and I want to know what YOU want me to look for. We'll pick a winner on Friday, April 13, 2012!

Good Luck and Happy Sewing,
Jenny

P.S. My favorite style/color/type is anything pink and green and cutesy and floral and feminine.

March 2012 Giveaway - Breeze Fat Quarter Bundle

We Have A Winner!
The winner is Debra Lee who said "I would go with Option 3." Congratulations Debra Lee! Please send me an e-mail and let me know where to mail the bundle to!
Happy March! This month we're giving away a 14 piece Breeze Fat Quarter Bundle by Rosemarie Lavin for Windham fabrics. Isn't it beautiful???!!! And I thought it seemed like the perfect fabric collection to celebrate the start of spring!

I've got a little favor to ask first though......Here's the story: I read ALL of your blog comments. I LOVE getting your comments. Sometimes people ask questions in a blog comment. Sometimes I just really want to say something back to one of your wonderful comments! But I'm having trouble figuring out the best way to respond to your comments.

#1 - I could try to e-mail you back. But that only works if you leave your e-mail address in the comment or if you leave your comment with your Google ID I can "hunt" you down. I have no way of e-mailing you if you leave your comment just using the name option or the anonymous option. And if you asked a question there might be other people that have the same question and want to know the answer too!

#2- I could respond to blog comments by posting a blog comment of my own. But does anyone really go back to the blog comments to see if the blogger has left a comment in response to their comment? Whew! Did that make any sense?

#3 - I could do a little "P.S." section at the end of each blog post answering any questions or comments from the previous post.

Or, I could do all three! What do you think? Please leave a comment letting me know what you think about this and you'll be entered to win the Breeze Fat Quarter Bundle!

And while we're on the subject of answering blog comments do you remember the question I asked in the last Giveaway - Do you finish a project before starting another one or do you have many going on at once? It's appears I'm in the majority because about 85% of you said you have many projects going on at once. About 10% of you finish one project before starting another (Wow! I wish I could be like that!). And about 5% of you have 2-3 projects going on at once. That seems reasonable to me!

And a lot of you also mentioned that you have different types of projects going on at the same time. I do that too - I try not to have more than one pieced quilt, one applique project, one purse, one piece of clothing, one embroidery, etc. going on at the same time. Please note that I said I TRY to do this, not that I actually do it!

If you're still reading this, which I hope you are, please leave your comment by midnight on Wednesday, March 7, 2012. We'll pick the winner on Thursday, March 8.

Good Luck and Happy Sewing,
Jenny

P.S. I'm going to try method #3 for answering Blog Comments right now! Thanks for all your sweet comments about the Granny Squares! And if you noticed all the comments about cats and were wondering...."what?"....here's the story (which you already know if you follow me on Twitter or Facebook) - On Sunday, I locked one of my cats in Mr. Sew Fab's closet ALL DAY LONG. And then on Monday, I locked a different cat in a different closet for several hours. Yes....I'm now worried that they're going to seek revenge! Wouldn't you if you were them?

P.P.S.S. I still haven't been able to "hunt down" JuneBug who won last months Good Fortune Giveaway. If you're the JuneBug who left this comment please contact me. If I don't hear from you soon the Fat Quarters will be MINE.....ALL MINE! Just kidding - I'll just pick another winner if I can't find the first one!

February 2012 Giveaway - Good Fortune

We Have A Winner!
The winner is JuneBug who said "That fabric is so gorgeous, especially when you see it all together like that! I love Kate Spain.

I'm one who likes to have only one or two projects going at any given time. I used to be a strictly one project at a time girl, but that is unrealistic when working on a big project and you have to get little ones done in the mean time :)
"

Congratulations JuneBug! And I'll let you know the results of the poll in my next blog post!

Happy February! Today is Giveaway Day and I think you're going to LOVE this one. We're giving away a 16 piece Good Fortune Fat Quarter Bundle by Kate Spain for Moda Fabrics!!! Good Fortune arrived last week and I've gotta say.....the colors are so amazing and rich and vibrant in person. I had a "knock me over with a feather" moment when I opened the big boxes full of fabric - I couldn't believe what I was seeing! I'm in love with this Eye Candy!

Just leave a comment and you'll be entered to win. I'd love to hear your answer to this question: Do you finish one project before starting another or do you have many, many projects going on at the same time? If you've read any of my previous blog posts you probably know which category I'm in - I have about 20 unfinished projects going on right now!

Be sure to leave your comment by Sunday, Feb 5 at midnight. We'll pick a winner on Monday, Feb 6.

Good Luck and Happy Sewing,
Jenny

January 2012 Giveaway - Hooterville Quilt Pattern

We Have A Winner!
The winner is Sallie who said "I like it the way you have it. I'd definitely use blue. Thanks for the great giveaway!" Congratulations Sallie! Send me an e-mail and I'll send your Hooterville pattern to you!

Happy January! I meant to post this Giveaway on the 1st......I really did.....but did anyone else have trouble getting back into their normal routine after the holidays??? I'm still just a little bit lost and out of sorts and can't remember what I'm supposed to be doing! But I'll figure it out eventually. Anyway, this month we're giving away a Hooterville Quilt Pattern. It's the most popular pattern we've ever had in the shop! Everyone loves those wide eyes owls!!!
And instead of having the Giveaway run for the whole month it's only going to be open for one week. I guess in the past I always wanted to give people plenty of time to enter.....but then I realized that there weren't many people entering the Giveaways after the first week. So, we'll make this one short and sweet. Just leave a comment to be entered to win. I'd love to hear what colors or fabrics you would want to use in the Hooterville quilt. And if you blog about this giveaway or tweet about it or do a Facebook post about it you can leave additional comments to receive extra chaces to win. I'll pick a winner on Friday, January 13, 2012. Last day to enter is Thursday, January 12, 2012 at midnight.

Good Luck and Happy Sewing,
Jenny

P.S. Be sure to check last months Giveaway to see if you're the big winner.

And yet again, I've put together little "samplings" of my favorite soon to be released collections that I'm considering adding to the shop.

Please tell me what you think. Which ones do you love? Which ones would you buy? Which ones would you pass on? Please be honest. I won't be offended if you don't like them! And don't feel obligated to talk about every single collection. You can if you want to....or you can just talk about the ones that you have strong feelings about. Just leave a comment and you'll be entered to win. Oh, and only vote for or comment on the fabric collections shown BELOW. The images in the sidebar on the right are all the new stuff that's already in the shop! Please leave your comment by November 30, 2011 to be entered to win.

October Giveaway - Love It Or Leave It

We Have A Winner!
November 2, 2011 Update: The winner is Free Indeed who said "Loved several of these lines. Esp. Good Fortune, Modernology and Fly A Kite. Did not care for the two clickable link ones.....aren't we all so over red and aqua yet????? No one hit me o.k.?" Congratulations Free Indeed and thanks for your hilarious comment!

Happy October! This month you'll be entered to win a $50 Gift Certificate if you do a little favor for me! Lots of new fabric collections are being released in the next few months and I would love to have your help in deciding which ones to get! I've put together samplings of a few of the prints and colors from each collection that I'm considering so you can get a feel for each one. Please tell me what you think. Which ones do you love? Which ones would you buy? Which ones would you pass on? Please be honest. I won't be offended if you don't like them! And don't feel obligated to talk about every single collection. You can if you want to.....or you can just talk about the ones that you have strong feelings about. Just leave a comment and you'll be entered to win. Oh, and only vote for or comment on the fabric collections shown BELOW. The images in the sidebar on the right are all the new stuff that's already in the shop! I'll quit rambling now so you can start looking at fabric!

This is Millie's Closet by Bee In My Bonnet for Riley Blake Designs
This is Good Fortune by Kate Spain for Moda Fabrics
This is Stars and Stripes by My Mind's Eye for Riley Blake Designs
This is Fly A Kite by October Afternoon for Riley Blake Designs

This is Flea Market Fancy by Denyse Schmidt for Free Spirit Fabrics. Again, this is a re-release of a collection that came out a few years ago in some new colors. Sorry for the less than perfect image. They haven't released other images of this collection yet.
And finally....I'll have to ask you to click on a link to The Happy Zombie's photos to see the last two collections. The images for these collections haven't been released yet but since The Happy Zombie (Monica Solorio-Snow) is a designer for Lecien she got some yardage early and posted pictures. Lucky girl! And FYI - Monica is the talented designer of the new Happy Mochi Yum Yum Collection that's in the shop now. Anyway, you won't want to miss these last two so please check them out! Pretty, pretty please with a cherry on top!

Folk Heart by Rosalie Quinlan for Lecien Fabrics

and

Flower Sugar for Lecien Fabrics

I can't wait to hear what you think about these collections! Every time I do one of these fabric vote blog posts I'm constantly checking my blog comments and tallying the "score" and anxiously waiting for the next comment to come in. I have so much fun doing these and I hope you like it too. Instead of shopping alone it's like I get to take a few hundred friends fabric shopping with me! Thanks friends!

Happy Sewing,
Jenny
