Emma's Pick Of The Week - Fruitcake

Hey there, it's me Emma Jane! It's time for a little more Christmas in July. Have you seen the new Fruitcake Collection yet? It's by Basic Grey for Moda - they also made the ridiculously popular Figgy Pudding Collection that came out last year (we still have a little bit left)!
This collection is full of adorable snowmen, holly berries, snowflakes and ornaments in shades of Spearmint, Sugar, Cherry and Hot Cocoa. The colors are rich and modern but still "holiday-ish" at the same time. I love these twining, vining Sugar Holly Berries.......
And look at the adorable striped scarves and little birds sitting on the Spearmint Frosty Snowmen.....
And I think that Sugar Deck The Halls is my favorite fabric from this collection. I love all of the detail and color in this one.....
I'm gonna go start working on my Christmas list now. Yup, we're the type of people who start our Christmas shopping in July!

XOXO,
Emma Jane

Emma's Pick Of The Week - Still Hot, Hot, Hot

Hey there, it's me Emma Jane! Yup.....it's still hot, hot, hot around here. And rumor has it that we have a few more months of this. So, I'm just gonna embrace the heat since we can't escape it and show you some sizzling hot fabrics. First up is the Sunset Garden Trellis from the Flights of Fancy Collection......
Another hot summertime fabric is Blush Chain Flower from the Meadowsweet Collection....
And if you spend too much time out in the hot, hot, hot sun without your sunscreen you may end up the same color as Persimmon Henna Garden from Meadowsweet....
I'm gonna head on down to the beach now and catch some rays. See ya next week!

XOXO,
Emma Jane

Athena Skirt - Take Two

Here is my second attempt at making an Athena Skirt. On the evening of July 3 I decided that I needed a new red, white and blue skirt to wear on the 4th of July and this is what I came up with. I used fabrics from the Flights Of Fancy Collection by Paula Prass for Michael Miller.

Again, I left off the 4th tier and I left off the ruffles in between the tiers. And this time I took about 4" off the width of Tier 1 (that's the tier with the birds and circles on the white background). I'm really happy with a less voluminous Tier 1.......which means there's less volume right over my hips and thighs! And here is my fabulous self-portrait.....
I have ideas for about five more Athena Skirts! I could just live in these skirts all summer - they're quick, easy, cute and comfortable. Oh.....I just realized that if I make five more skirts I'll have a total of seven.....one for each day of the week! Yay!

Happy Sewing,
Jenny

Emma's Pick Of The Week - Claire Cami Dress

Hey there, it's me Emma Jane! I think the Dog Days of Summer have definitely arrived. It is hot, hot, hot outside. It's the perfect time to stay inside and make some pretty sundresses to wear when you have to venture out into the heat. The new Claire Cami Dress has become one of our most popular patterns EVER.....
It's an easy, breezy sundress that you pull on and tie at the waist. No buttons or zippers to install! I think it would look perfect in some cool, icy blues and aquas like Pineapple Brocade in Ice....
Or Fresh Poppies in Sky......
Or Bali Gate in Pink.....
I'm gonna go lay on the cool tile and chew on some ice cubes and try not to melt into a giant puddle of puppy.......

XOXO,
Emma Jane
