September 2012 Giveaway - Love It or Leave It?

 WE HAVE A WINNER!
The winner is SpendLove who said "Avignon by Emily Taylor for Riley Blake Designs -it was a hard decision love so many, but Avignon wins my vote! Thanks :)"  Please send me an e-mail so I can give you your Gift Certificate!
And the fabric collections that got the most votes are Hill Farm, Notting Hill, Honey Honey, Avignon, Simple Life and Hello Sunshine!

Happy September!  It's giveaway time again!!!  Well.....actually it was Giveaway time over a week ago but I went out of town and totally forgot to tell anyone in blog-land or Facebook-land or Twitter-land that I was going out of town.  And I totally forgot to do the intelligent, well prepared thing and write blog posts ahead of time.  I'm such a responsible business person, aren't I?  And where did I go, you ask?  I went up to Massachusetts for Mr. Sew Fab's promotion to Colonel at Barnes Air Force Base!!!  Seriously!  We may all have to start calling him Colonel Sew Fab from now on!

Anyway, back to my original point of it being Giveaway time (more on the Colonel thing later)!  This month I'm doing another one of those Love It or Leave It posts.  As you can imagine it can be kind of challenging to pick out new fabric collections.  And I want to make sure that I'm going to get fabric collections that YOU like.  So here are some snippet samples of some collections I'm considering getting for the shop.  Tell me what you think!  What jumps out at you and screams "you can't live without me?!"  Which ones do you want to buy?  Which ones would you walk right by and say to yourself "Yuck!  What was she thinking?"  You don't have to comment on every collection.  If you have lukewarm feelings about something you don't have to tell me unless you want to.  Obviously, I'm mostly interested in the ones that you really, really want to buy and can't live without!  And if there's a collection you're interested in that I haven't listed here please tell me that too.  Please be honest!  You're not going to hurt my feelings if you don't like something.  You'll just be helping me stock the shop with tons of stuff that everyone will LOVE!

Just leave a comment and you'll be entered to win.  I'll pick the winner of a $50 Gift Certificate on Tuesday, September 18.

Here are the fabric collections that are being "nominated."  The name of the collection is listed above the image.  These collections are all being released sometime in the next few months.  (Please Note:  The fabric collections in the sidebar on the right are fabrics that are already in the shop).

This is Avignon by Emily Taylor for Riley Blake Designs.

I love Poppy Love (MM) and Notting Hill (JD). I like some of This is Flutter (RB).

Brita said...

Hill Farm grabs me -- I think I'm so over the little bitty novelties, the bright happy-happy smiley ones, the odd geometrics, and I'm falling in love with the old-fashioned, sweet romantics. Hill Farm in pebble stone is so soft, but the white with red roses, sigh.

Patricia Lessell said...

Flutter, Simple Farm and definitely Hill Farm I can't live without. Hill Farm is gorgeous malorgeous and edible that's for certain and if I could only buy one line that would be it!

Amanda said...

Sweetest thing and simple life are calling me. The others I wouldn't go whole collection on any, but maybe a half yard of a couple prints, maybe.

Suburban Stitcher said...

Hill Farm...followed closely by The Simple Life.

Cathy said...

Avignon is first on my list (oh please do carry this line!) then tied for second woud be Honey, Honey, Notting Hill, Simple Life and Sweetest Thing. Thank you for asking. And congratulations to the Colonel too.

Samantha said...

Heh.. I'm gonna do the whole list!

Avignon: So so. I like the middle left and bottom right more than any of them.

Cherry On Top: I like the white prints but it is to Pepto pink.

The Sweetest Thing: Like a lot!

Poppy Love: LOVE! I love those vibrant blues!

Honey Honey: Like.

Flutter: Like a lot!

The Simple Life: Like. I'd make kid quilts out of it probably.

Garden Party: LOVE this one! So bright and vibrant!

Kissing Booth: So so.

Notting Hill: Like.

Hello Sunshine: Like a lot! I love that top left print the best.

I love all of the Hill Farm prints.

Thanks for a chance at a gift certificate! No such thing as to much fabric! ;)

I have always had a soft spot for Riley Blake fabrics. I really like Avignon, The Sweetest Thing, and Flutter! I also really like Kissing Booth, Honey Honey, and Notting Hill. While I think that the other collections are beautiful, they are not any that I would want for my own personal collection. I do, however, know some people who would really like to make something with them!

Notting Hill will work really well with Chicopee.

And I don't mean to be negative at all, but I say this because EVERYTHING ELSE YOU SHOWED IS JUST DREAMY :), and listing the 3 I didn't like was better than gushing over so many :) The only one you didn't show that I'm interested is Tapestry by Fig Tree Quilts..... otherwise, everything is gorgeous!

You asked for honesty, so with no offense to the very talented designers here is my opinion and preferences.

Avignon, nice but looks to similar to what I already have in my stash

Cherry On Top, really cute with well defined contrast. I can see applications for a jelly roll or especially a layer cake, but would not buy yardage because "cute" as yardage gets over whelming.

The Sweetest Thing, sorry no thanks. Very bland.

This is Poppy Love. Love it. This is the one I would have to buy. I love how the whole collection works together. I like the detail in the medallions, the boldness of the large scale flowers, and how the changes in scale pull the whole collection together.

This is Honey Honey, nice but I already have so many similar fabrics already in my stash. I would probably buy it on sale, but not at retail.

This is Flutter. The colors are to greyed for my taste.

This is The Simple Life no thanks

This is Garden Party I like the two multi-color pieces on the bottom row. I am trying to avoid two color only fabrics as I already have enough in my stash.

This is Kissing Booth. I would consider buying almost any precut size, but would probably buy charm squares first. Would also buy the large rose print and the white with small pink hearts as yardage.

This is Notting Hill. Love it. What an unusual shade of yellow. It makes such a soothing combination with the aqua. Like the Poppy Love collection I like how this whole collection works together. Its fresh, it soothing, its compelling.

This is Hello Sunshine. It nice but I already have fabric just like it in my stash.

Hill Farm No thanks. I already have fabric just like it in my stash.
