April 2012 Giveaway - California Girl

We Have A Winner!
The winner is Brita who said "Oh, how I love the California Girl collection! Anything by Joanna Figueroa rocks my world. And roses, sweet red, wild, romantic, on white, gray, green, yellow. Modern in moderate doses. I'm really sick of red with aqua, tho. Orange has been fun this year." Congratulations Brita! And I apologize for the delay in picking a winner. We're in the middle of moving our shop to a bigger space - It's been an exciting, chaotic and wonderful move and I'm so glad we did it!!!
Happy April! I bet you thought I forgot all about my monthly Giveaways! The last few weeks have been a little hectic but I'll tell you all about that another day......let's just get right to the fun stuff! This month we're giving away a 20 piece California Girl Fat Quarter Bundle. I want to say that this collection just screams springtime at me.....but it's such a soft and sweet collection I think it would politely whisper at me instead. California Girl is too ladylike and delicate to scream!

Just leave a comment to be entered to win. I'd love for you to tell me what styles/colors/designers/manufacturers/types of fabrics you're looking for these days. Modern? Brights? Batiks? Romantic Florals? More Riley Blake? More Amy Butler? I could go on and on but I think you're getting the picture! Tell me everything and anything you like in the fabric world - I want to know what's on your fabric loving mind! Spring Quilt Market is coming up so TONS of new collections are about to be released and I want to know what YOU want me to look for. We'll pick a winner on Friday, April 13, 2012!

Good Luck and Happy Sewing,
Jenny

P.S. My favorite style/color/type is anything pink and green and cutesy and floral and feminine.

From my last order with you, I chose Verona and California Girl. I love the softer colorways in fabrics. I also like beautiful large scale prints that would make excellant purses or home decor items.

Right now i am loving the modern japanese prints, especially on linen! I have been working alot with bright kid friendly prints as I've had a bunch of baby gifts to make lately. California Girl is so girly, my littlest neices would love snuggle blankies out of it.

Annelies said...

I am still sew in love with vintage brights....such as Flower Sugar and PKM. Just love them to pieces. Keeping fingers for the win. Love Figtree too!!!

I've just started collecting polka dots. I'd like to do a Dresden plate quilt in polka dot. I'm also in the market for a pattern for a Christmas tree skirt. I think California Girl is gorgeous and have had my eye on it since it came out.

I am enjoying the modern prints and colors - love greens and greys. Want to make a quilt out of California Girl for my own California girl!

Elita@Busy Needle Quilting said...

I've just finished a top in soft pinks and white. It's so very spring and roses! I am drawn to more traditional patterns with a modern, light feel for the fabrics to take it up a notch. These would look great in a sweet Cape Cod setting!

Kimberly said...

I'm really into bright fabrics right now. I love brights with white!

WandaFish said...

I'm loving so many different styles at the moment! Thanks for the California Girl giveaway - I'd love to get my hands on that bundle!
Lotta Jansdotter's next line looks stunning. I'm also crushing on Pat Bravo's Summerlove and her fabrics always feel so gorgeous too :)

kbzelazny said...

I love brights! Pink, orange, green! Thanks so much!

Mary on Lake Pulaski said...

I'm starting to get away from using entire lines of fabric together, so I like a two color print, not usually floral, but in saturated colors that I can use in creating original pillows, doll quilts and baby quilts.

JustPam said...

I have been liking the brights lately. Terrain, Verona, etc. This is really pretty and I do like the softer palate.

Barbara McD said...

Unfortunately, my tastes are running a strange gamut, from Civil War prints to 30's prints to prints like California Girl. I know that doesn't help you much . . . .

Thanks for the giveaway!!!

I love the softer, romantic floral fabrics in pastel colors. No particular designer, just whoever has pretty, fresh and "happy" fabric!

Anonymous said...

I just don't know what I'm into right now - I'm making a quilt with Rounierres Deux by French General (gorgeous!!), want in the worst way to make a quilt w/ California Girl, and just purchased some Stockholm by Robt Kaufman. I know that I'm not too interested in Reproduction fabric, "girly" fabric, or juvenile fabric. Does that help??

Diane N said...

I like anything girly

Xenia said...

I am really liking bright colors right now...greens, pinks, orange...maybe because it is spring! Love all ou fabric choices. Fig tree has a big soft spot in my heart, and I'm originally from California so I hope to win!

My favorite always will be the 30's repros, but I lately have been drawn to the fabrics with more of an architectural design to them. Not sure why, but they have been catching my eye!

I just love fabric and especially anything from Fig Tree or Riley Blake or especially Pat Bravo's new line. I really can't think off the top of my head anything I don't like except for maybe the Civil War fabrics, just because that isn't my style I like bright and happy. Blessings

I'm liking the pastels & soft colors for spring but, I do like all the options of batiks...since you get both side as usable fabric & they are usually a bit different. Thanks for this great giveaway!

Whenever I see a new Sweetwater collection I am fascinated - love their colors and designs - Lucy's Crab shack is no exception.
And then there is Figtree - California girl is perfect for spring.
Thank you!

I'm currently collecting Civil War fabrics, I'm also working on a black background with brights, one with Moda Kansas Troubles, and a scrappy log cabin. Each one is very different from the next. The bundle you're giving away looks beautiful, and I'm sure I could put it to good use!! Thanks for giving us a chance to win it!!

My favs will always be Fig Tree (that's why I HAVE to win, ha ha ha :) ) but lately I'm heading in a modern, funky direction-- but not necessarily loud colors, just bold designs, I guess? Like Joel Dewberry? Erin Morris? I love those.....

I just LOVE California Girl! Infact, it was one of my inspirations for the Aurifil Designer Collection Competition that's running atm!

That's lovely fabric; thanks for chance to win! I suppose many of my favorites lately have been Riley Blake (Chevrons, Peak Hour...) & Moda (A Walk in the Woods, Ten Little Things, Pezzy Prints); however, I just rec'd some Art Gallery I ordered (oval elements & Poetica) and that fabric is SO SOFT. That was my first experience with that "brand" and I'll look for it again. (marshudson at comcast dot net)

I wish I was a California Girl..we are headed for winter down here in Australia! Seriously though I am truly loving the delicate and classic look of Fig Tree fabrics and if you could stock all the old lines (sigh...I wish) I have also been seeking after the fabric called finally Free by Caroline Simas a Kaufman fabric. Lori Holt, Pam Kitty Morning? Lecien sweetly have the ability to pull my heart/purse strings.

What a fantastic giveaway! I have a girl crush on Joanna--I love every fabric line that she comes out with. Besides Fig Tree, I love Vintage Modern, Pam Kitty Morning, Minick & Simpson, and red and aqua. I can't wait for Sweetwater's new line. I guess you could say the only thing that doesn't do anything for me are batiks, though they do look pretty in quilts.

Jeannette said...

OOh I want to win since April is my B-day month ;-)

As for fabrics I love right now...Belle by landsotter, anything gray, citron, versatile prints dots, etc.

Dana Gaffney said...

What a beautiful bundle! I'm loving the greys/aquas/oranges (tangerine?) right now! Thanks so much for the giveaway chance!

Despite planning a baby quilt in soft pastels, I think I'm leaning more toward modern style, bold colors, and blenders in what I'd like to buy this season. I'm already starting to think summer so that might be why!

Michele T said...

I am loving Contemporary prints these days but have changed my tastes easily and quickly depending I suppose on my mood, current project, and who I am making a gift for!

I'm looking out for pink, blue and orange fabrics because those are my nieces favorite colors and I want to make quilts for them really soon. I love modern prints but I also like vinatge. I do like florals, but I like them on the smaller print side.

Jannis said...

I have a hard time choosing my favorite fabric. There are so many great line out right now. I have been searching for kids fabric lately because I have a few neices that are expecting babies.

Wanda said...

I definitely like bright, saturated colors. Not into civil war repo or 30's feedsack. If Cali Girl were any lighter it wouldn't be for me. It is lovely and very summery so I like it. Although I like the prints of Salt Air I'm not fond of the colors.

Kathy MacKie said...

My taste is as varied as my music is but I do love the color green and purple, thanks for your generous giveaway.

Diann said...

What pretty fabric! My eye leans toward modern and/or bright these days, but I actually like a wide variety of fabric.

Pat said...

Love California Girl, especially the blue colorway! I usually am drawn to contemporary fabrics with high contrast rather than muted, softer shades.

Lisa England said...

I buy lots of different types to go with the taste of the person I'm making a project for. If that person is ME, I go for clear colors, mostly modern and anything I deem "interesting". Thanks for the chance to win. These prints would be perfect for an aunt I make quilty gifts for.

Deb said...

I like modern prints and am into bright colors such as purples, aquas, tangerines and bright greens

I would like to see some more masculine colors, but not ugly. Kinda modern, masculine.

Sarah W said...

fun patterns in bright colors!

Anonymous said...

brights....in batiks always catch my attention!

Marcia W. said...

I like the fabric lines you carry. My draw to a fabric is a contemporary combination of color, florals, geometrics, and medium-small prints. One color that prefer to limit in my quilt fabrics is pink. I like collections that include clear colors of blue, green, or purple. California Girl is my style as is Good Fortune and Fly A Kite, Vintage Modern and Ruby. Designers I tend to like include Joel Dewberry, Kaffe Fasset, and Kate Spain. I buy based on price and whether I want fabric for a specific quilt I have in mind.

kequilts said...

I really enjoyed making my son a quilt using traditional blocks pieced with batiks in colors reflecting th beauty of nature. It took on a whole contemporary feel. I'd love to try this again with some of the new lines featuring greys, blues and greens.

Lee Ann L. said...

To be honest, I'm into dots... of all kinds! Thank you for a chance to win. :-)

Natalya H said...

I love all my Fig Tree fabrics! I'm also drawn to florals, soft colors. I tend to go for the more modern fabrics for making bags, purses or clothing. Would love to win this bundle!

Turtle said...

that is gorgeous! I have tended to look for the vintage looking americana fabrics the last few years. reds, blues, whites grays... but all muted and soft.

Gretchen said...

I love anything by Fig Tree, Kate Spain, & French General. I especially like gray and purple fabrics too. Thanks for the opportunity for the FQ giveaway.
