February 2012 Giveaway - Good Fortune

We Have A Winner!
The winner is JuneBug who said "That fabric is so gorgeous, especially when you see it all together like that! I love Kate Spain.

I'm one who likes to have only one or two projects going at any given time. I used to be a strictly one project at a time girl, but that is unrealistic when working on a big project and you have to get little ones done in the mean time :)
"

Congratulations JuneBug! And I'll let you know the results of the poll in my next blog post!

Happy February! Today is Giveaway Day and I think you're going to LOVE this one. We're giving away a 16 piece Good Fortune Fat Quarter Bundle by Kate Spain for Moda Fabrics!!! Good Fortune arrived last week and I've gotta say.....the colors are so amazing and rich and vibrant in person. I had a "knock me over with a feather" moment when I opened the big boxes full of fabric - I couldn't believe what I was seeing! I'm in love with this Eye Candy!

Just leave a comment and you'll be entered to win. I'd love to hear your answer to this question: Do you finish one project before starting another or do you have many, many projects going on at the same time? If you've read any of my previous blog posts you probably know which category I'm in - I have about 20 unfinished projects going on right now!

Be sure to leave your comment by Sunday, Feb 5 at midnight. We'll pick a winner on Monday, Feb 6.

Good Luck and Happy Sewing,
Jenny

Oh how beautiful that fabric is.

I have too many projects in various stages of development to count - and still looking at other fabric to start new projects!

(Don't tell my husband, though).

I have WAY too many projects going-knitting as well as quilting! Oh to be so disciplined to finish b/f starting something new!!

Lisa said...

Oh my word, LOVE the new line! I always have projects on the go... I still in fact am still 'working' on the hooterville quilt hahaha. oy. Are you done yours yet?

Katie said...

I have many projects going at one time. Love the fabric.

Ana said...

I have several projects going at one time, but nicely stored LOL.

Dede said...

Omigosh that's gorgeous fabric!

Sadly, as much as I like to get just one thing done before moving on to the next one, I typically have about five projects going at the same time. My only personal rule is that they're all different - only one quilt, one doll, one bag, one toy, etc., at a time.

shishie said...

Oh! Oh! Oh! I love it sooooooooooo much!

ritainalaska said...

my sis laughs at me for the number of projects i have going and stashed :) it would be my good fortune to win this bundle! thanx for the opportunity to do so.

Janet said...

I work on many projects at once. I like to work on different things at different times. I like making some small items as I'm working on something large, so I get the gratification of finishing something too. It's so exciting to start a new project! I also have numerous project in the "next" category. I love this new line and the colors.

Kristy said...

Many, many things at once for sure!
The curse of multi-tasking!

Thanks for the fun, this is gorgeous fabric!

Johanna said...

I am definitely in the many projects at the same time category. I can't count them anymore :)
Seems like for each project that I finish, I want to start three others...

DebrafromMD said...

I have multiple projects going at one time. Unfortunately, I often begin more projects than I finish. I'm trying hard to reverse this trend. My studio will thank me (eventually).

Hannah said...

I have many little projects going at a time, but I try really hard to stick with only one big one at a time ... pressure to finish one before starting another is the only way I actually get anything done! I do purchase fabric for many projects into the future though :-). BTW, I adore Good Fortune!!!

Tiff Blakey said...

I have 14 unfinished quilts currently. (I just finished one last night! Woohoo!) I definitely don't finish one before starting another. :)

Sallie said...

I love Kate Spain's designs! I have several projects going on at once. Thanks for the great giveaway!

Sunnybec said...

When I started quilting about 16 months ago, I started one project and finished it....couldn't understand why people didn't do that....fast forward to today, oh dear got a few things on the go at the moment...it's the thought of doing the sandwich...all those pins...oh you get the picture. :-)

WandaFish said...

At the moment I'm finding it hard to finish even one project! I have way too many on the go and even more planned out in my head - I could do with an extra 8 hours in each day to achieve anything, lol.
Good Fortune looks amazing! Thanks for the chance to win :)

jlk said...

I have about 10 projects going on at a time. It's terrible. I'm really trying to be better about those darn UFOs this year.

Unknown said...

It depends if there is a deadline, if I have a deadline it will be finished for sure.

Pepe said...

Oh! Soooo many projects! I nedd projects differents with differents destinations (baby quilts for friends, double quilts, patchwork, needleturning, stitchery...). And many in my minds...

bmayer said...

hahahahahahahaha....FINNISH one project before starting another. Too funny! I have a friend who actually does that....and I still like her.

Denise in PA said...

I'm mimicking bmayer because that's first thought I had when I read the question...hahahahahahah!!! Finish a project before I start another? Probably never, ever happened. I DO finish things, I'm just not monagamous. (PS - I'd love to win that yummy bundle - thanks for the chance!)

MollyP said...

The first comment that popped in my head is, "Of course not! How many creative people do you know with only ONE on-going project? That's like finding a honeybee dancing around in a field with only one flower." Then my less spastic self said, "I'm sure there are a ton of creative types commited to a single project at a time so they can focus whole-heartedly on what they are creating." Then no. 1 piped up again, "Are you crazy? No one has only one project at a time. These juices have got to flow, man. Whenever, wherever."

Sue Niven said...

They are such delightful fabrics, Just yummy, as for how many projects in progress, i think usually about 6 or 7. Knitting, sewing, crochet, other craft and quilting, all in progress and i go from project to project, spending some time sewing and then in the evening knitting and crochet.

Teresa in Music City said...

I just LOVE Kate Spain fabrics & would be over the moon to win! As for whether I finish one quilt before starting another - uh, no!!! I sometimes wonder if I have quilter's ADD because I am always seeing something new I want to start. I have to really keep a rein on what I allow myself to have going at one time!

Diane H said...

Love Kate Spain! It's no fun to just have one project on the go. I try really hard to finish one before starting another but sometimes it just can't be helped.
Like when some fabulous fabric comes along. Thanks for such a lovely giveaway.

Dana Gaffney said...

I almost always finish a project, but that doesn't mean I don't have UFOs. Sometimes the project and I have an argument and I need to walk away before things get ugly.

ShirleyC said...

I very, very seldom start another project before one is finished. It just has to be out of necessity. Beautiful fabric!

Teresa Silva said...

I have several projects going at one time. I love this fabric. I recently made a quilt with Terrain and it was gorgeous.

Kim Q said...

I confess...I have a bad habit of getting sidetracked by new projects and fabrics before I get current ones finished. I think I need more than a cat's nine lives!

Good Fortune is beautiful. I wish I could finish one project before starting another one. There is just way too much gorgeous fabric & wonderful patterns available. I have way too many projects going on & let's don't even talk about flimsies that need quilted. But it sure is fun!

Judy said...

I love Kate Spain fabric! I do one or two only at a time. If I'm waiting on something for one, I work on another. I also crochet when time allows. Thank you for this super giveaway. I don't have any of this line.

I just love all of Kate Spain's fabric as I love her. She is such a sweet person.
I have to say that I am always working on many projects as I think I get bored fast. I see new fabric and I go off again.

I love these colours. (Although there hasn't been a Kate Spain line that I haven't loved!) I have far too many projects going on at once - I always love the excitement of starting new things but without a deadline, my enthusiasm dwindles...

Lindsay Conner said...

That's a good question! I typically have one big project going on and a few smaller ones (like bee blocks I'm collecting or a bag I'd like to make). But one quilt at a time is how I roll. :)

robin said...

I'm afraid I don't have a very good track record for finishing things, but I'm trying to improve! Great giveaway - thanks!!

I have way too many projects at one time, but in order to finish anything, I have to stop and finish one at a time.

Suzanne Pratt said...

I'm rehabbing a 30 year old log cabin quilt that I first did with my son when he was 5 years old. I let him (at the time of original construction) select the pattern of how he wanted the blocks laid so he would feel more like part of the process. It must have worked. He brought it to me about 3 years ago and asked me if I could fix it where it was more or less dissolving with age. He said - Mom, this quilt has been with me my whole life and it means a lot to me. Can you fix it please?

This quilt was one I would have run from trying to fix but I saw how much it meant to me and so I am doing it - I am having to take the blocks apart and replace some of the logs because the original fabric is just pretty much gone. I have no idea how this will turn out - I sure couldn't find exact fabric matches so the fabric will be an adventure. Some of the fabric in this line looks like the type I am using to refurbish and yes it is a beautiful line....

Natalya H said...

Her fabrics are so gorgeous! What a great giveaway! I usually have only one quilting project going on and on "hands on" project like cross stitching.

Marcia W. said...

I WANT...lots of Good Fortune
Usually have more than one quilt project in the works - right now I have 3 active quilt projects - and 2 UFOs where I'm unsure as to what to do next. But, if I win this Good Fortune all will be set aside so can jump in and make something.

Pat said...

I always have a couple of projects going at once. Right now, I'm working on a quilt for my son and I'm stitching embroidered blocks for another quilt. Plus I love to do small projects just to actually finish something!

I have ADD when it comes to crafts. I start tons of things. One day I want to work on one type of craft, then I want to work on something else the next. I just love all types of crafting so it's hard to keep my focus!

Beth said...

Easy question. I have many, many quilts in progress. I made a list of them and it went on for pages. Ridiculously, I then made a list of quilts I want to make, and that list was several pages long, too. I am forcing myself to finish something from the first list before I start something on the second. No actual finishes yet, but it is motivating me to make progress.

JanyceR said...

Finish? You are supposed to finish one before you start another? Not me, I have many going at once. Keeps the boredom away. and they do all get finished, just not in a sequentially order.
Thanks so much for the give away

I tend to have 2 or so projects going.
a quilt and some nonquilt sewing (bags, playmat, totes, etc.) It keeps me interested to do this. That said i might devote a while week to just one to get it done. Thanks for the giveaway.

I would love to win the Kate Spain fat quarter bundle. I love her fabrics. I usually have 2-3 projects going at one time.

Anonymous said...

Wellllll, it's my GOAL to finish each project before I begin another one, but things don't usually work out that way. I start dreaming about a new project (or projects), then begin to consider patterns, collect fabric, and before you know it, there's more than 1 project on my sewing table.

Longvacation said...

I used to do just one project at a time. The past few months I have started doing the multiple projects at the same time. I'm not yet sure which I prefer.

Cindy said...

A couple of years ago I counted my UFOs. Now I consider it a UFO once fabric is cut. If I am collecting fabric for a particular project, I do not consider it a UFO. At that time, I counted and wrote down 30 UFOs. I have since thrown that list away. I have made an effort to finish 2 UFOs before starting a new project. It is all the fabric designers' fault. If they would not come out with such great looking new fabric, we could finish our UFOs with that fabric that is over 5 years old!!

benbel said...

More beautiful fabric by Kate Spain! Love it! Want it!

I guess I must have a short attention span as I fall into the category of having many projects in the works all at the same time. I'm sure I have time to finish one more quilt ;)
